U.N.I.T.Y.
Uh, U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity
U.N.I.T.Y., love a black man from infinity to infinity
(Who you calling a bitch?)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black woman from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black man from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)
Instinct leads me to another flow
Everytime I hear a brother call a girl a bitch or a ho
Trying to make a sister feel low
You know all of that gots to go
Now everybody knows there's exceptions to this rule
Now don't be getting mad, when we playing, it's cool
But don't you be calling out my name
I bring wrath to those who disrespect me like a dame
That's why I'm talking, one day I was walking down the block
I had my cutoff shorts on right cause it was crazy hot
I walked past these dudes when they passed me
One of 'em felt my booty, he was nasty
I turned around red, somebody was catching the wrath
Then the little one said (Yeah me bitch) and laughed
Since he was with his boys he tried to break fly
Huh, I punched him dead in his eye and said "Who you calling a bitch?"
(Here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black woman from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)
(Here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black man from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)
I hit the bottom, ain't nowhere else to go but up
Bad days at work, if you an attitude then you were rough
And take it out on me but that's about enough
You put your hands on me again I'll put your ass in handcuffs
I guess I fell so deep in love I grew dependency
I was too blind to see just how it was affecting me
All I knew was you, you was all the man I had
And I was scared to let you go, even though you treated me bad
But I don't want my kids to see me getting beat down
By daddy smacking mommy all around
You say I'm nothing without ya, but I'm nothing with ya
A man don't really love you if he hits ya
This is my notice to the door, I'm not taking it no more
I'm not your personal whore, that's not what I'm here for
And nothing good gonna come to ya til you do right by me
Brother you ain't ?sick? (Who you calling a bitch?)
(Here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black woman from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)

(You go, come on here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., Love a black man from (You got to let him know)
infinity to infinity (You ain't a bitch or a ho)
What's going on in your mind is what I ask ya
But like Yo-Yo, you don't hear me though
You wear a rag around your head and you
Call yourself a "Gangsta Bitch" now that you saw Apache's video
I saw you wilding, acting like a fool
I peeped you out the window jumping girls after school
But where did all of this come from?
A minute ago, you was a nerd and nobody ever heard of ya
Now you a wannabe...hard
You barely know your ABC's, please
There's plenty of people out there with triggers ready to pull it
Why you trying to jump in front of the bullet (Young lady)
Uh, and real bad girls are the silent type
Ain't none of this work getting your face sliced
Cause that's what happened to your homegirl, right? Bucking with nobody
She got to wear that for life (Who you calling a bitch?)
(Here we go)
U.N.I.T.Y., U.N.I.T.Y. that's a unity (You gotta let him know)
(You go, come on here we go)

Words cannot describe what this song means to me. It should be every woman's anthem, it's definitely mine. Queen Latifah herself is an inspiration but this song is biggest reason for why I love her.

Stop complaining and open your eyes !
Libya has been ruled for 42 years by a cunning, repressive, eccentric dictator who has frequently described his own people as "backwards." More than half of his 6.5 million subjects are under 18. Despite Libya's Libya's plentiful oil revenues, which represent most of the national budget, many children suffer from malnutrition and anemia. Corruption is rampant, dissidents are brutally suppressed, and many citizens are afraid to say Qaddafi’s name in public or in private for fear of attracting suspicion. Instead, Qaddafi is often referred to as "the leader" and to his son Seif (until now heir-apparent) as "the principal." Discussing national policy with a foreigner is punishable with three years in prison. Reporters Without Borders describes press freedom in Libya as "virtually non-existent."Oil is the economy in Libya and oil profits have bankrolled massive investments in education and infrastructure—yet Libya lags far behind other oil-rich Arab states. Unemployment stands at 30 percent. Most people who have jobs often work only part-time. Basic foods—including rice, sugar, flour, gasoline—are heavily subsidized by the government and sold for a fraction of their true cost. A 2006 New Yorker article described Libya's "prosperity without employment and large population of young people without a sense of purpose."
Libya's society is tribal and traditional—despite liberal laws on issues such as women's rights—and many Libyans identify via clan allegiance first, nationality second.
Some in Libya hoped that Seif Qaddafi, who has been growing more prominent as an adviser to his father, would create openings for democratic reform. Seif earned a doctorate in political philosophy from the London School of Economics and keeps Bengal tigers as pets. He has founded the "Qaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation," which supposedly seeks to promote human rights and fight the use of torture in Libya and across the Middle East. Last night my eyes were opened to the tragedy happening in Libya which is similar to what happened in Egypt. I realized how serious this is and that I am not one to complain about anything. I can simply state out facts but if I'm not going to make a change on my own I need to keep my mouth shut. That goes for any situation. Yesterday on the train a grown ass man got up and yelled and cursed at a teenager for accidentally stepping on his shoe. He threatened him too. There was a woman sitting right next to him talking to him, but when he did it she just all there all quiet. One of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a long time. There is so much going on in the world, so much going on in our own community, your sneakers don't mean anything. While talking to a woman about the incident she brought up that just that morning a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train. and you complain about your sneakers.

That's so gay.
I've used this term for years. When I first heard a few kids saying it when I was in middle school I thought it was so stupid. But then it caught on and everybody was saying it, even me. Just two weeks ago I said it and i didn't even realize until my mom pointed it out to me. I got so bad my younger sisters started saying it. I'm really close with them so they often pick up on my mannerisms and sayings. Now, I've seen the commercials and I've ignored them. I've made excuses such as "it's just a slang term it's not meant to hurt anyone". I stood behind this excuse fully and believed it.
But just last night I was thinking about it. I was also thinking about the N word. I use the same excuse for people using that term even though I don't like or use it. I realized that it is setting our people back. We've been through too much to be acting and speaking this way. I also made an analogy. What if people started saying "That is so shaunquisha" to describe something ghetto. "Shaunquisha" being the assumed ghetto/hood/black female name. I realized that would be totally ridiculous. Especially at this time when we are in the process of uplifting black women and blacks in general. So I should feel the same way about the term "That is so gay".
I'm guessing at the time it was first said being gay was considered wrong so anything wrong or not agreed with by the person saying it was "gay". At this time when we are all for equal rights and overall equality in our nation it is counter-productive. I will control myself from saying this because it is truly stupid. If I want to describe something I don't agree with there are so many other words I could use. Maybe we should eradicate all slang terms/phrases that don't really make sense. They confuse our youth.

No exceptions always question
I'm the type of person who gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, when you tell me something I'll believe you because there's no apparent reason why you would lie to me. That may seem like a good thing but in the end I get screwed when someone actually does lie to me.
So when you are talking to someone and they say something a little fishy question them, don't let it slide. It may not have anything to do with you but the fact that you are associated with that person you could get involved in something you don't want to be involved in. Also being truthful is the safest way to be. Don't make exceptions for anything you would normally question based on the person. Just because that person is your sibling, relative, neighbor or anyone close doesn't mean anything. Especially if you feel they are involved in something illegal because they could be. And the law doesn't care what you know or what secrets were kept from you, you should know better. I'm not saying not to trust anyone just be careful.
