Some cool styles to do with your hair =]

Thursday

The latest mixtape from the alternative R&B artist Abel Tesfaye. Better known as The Weeknd. (whom I posted about here) To Thursdays ago this mixtape was released and the internet was buzzing about it. There was no escaping. luckily I downloaded the mixtape before I lost internet at home and I'm going to give you all my personal track by track review.

Track 1) Lonely Star
This song sounds the way you'd think it would based on the title. It is very much his style and single handedly reminiscent of The Weeknd's first mixtape House of Balloons. The song itsel is great but I am not to fond of his voice. He often sings in falsetto but he is basically whining on this whole track. 3.5/5

Track 2)Life of the party*
If hipster was a music genre this song would be IT. Life of the sounds like a party record but this isn't nothing you'll here on Z100. This song combines the alternative rock and R&B feel very well. I really enjoy this song. It's very good is all I can say. 4/5

Track 3) Thursday
THE title track. Has a feel good mood to it. Very smooth/R&B. What you're probably used to after listening to The Weeknd for a while. I like this song. But that's it. It isn't very good. It's ok. 3/5

Track 4) The zone*
Amazing. This song isn't too different from he others but it still stands out. I'm not goping to praise the fact that Drake is on this track but it surely helps. In my opinion Drakes verse on this track is one if it's best. A rap verse compliments the R&B feel of this track especially since it is unexpected. I wouldn't understand how anyone can dislike this. 4.5/5

Track 5) The Birds part 1**
This song is perfect. Exactly what I said for track 8 goes for this song times 10. The birds part 1 is beautiful. I have nothing else to say except that I can listen tot his song forever. 6/5

Track 6) The birds part 2
Now this song fall short. It sounds like exactly what a part 2 to "The birds" shopuld sound like. It's smooth and slow but I feel it's unnecessary. 2.5/5

Track 7)Rolling Stone*
This song has a bit of a satana feel meets Soul music. The guitar on this song is prominent throughout the song. He is not exactly harmonizing on the song, or stretching his voice. He's practically talking, and it works. This is a smooth relaxing song. You can imagine raindrops dripping onto your window whilst you look outside if it aimlessly, listening to this song. 4/5

Track 8) Gone
This song is alternative. I feel it define The Weekend as an artist and is the epitome of his music. This one song is what both his mixtapes are all about. Not just the lyrics, bnut the music. If this song was instrumental it would be just as perfect. I love this song. 5/5

Track 9) Heaven or Las vegas
This song completes the album. A very good close, I feel as if it were a movie. You csn close your eyes and bob your head to this song, uncontrollably. It's a great record and makes me feel better abiut the album as a whole. 3/5

And that concludes it. Before I Finish this post I want to touch on something else. I've read complaints about The Weeknd's lyrics on All of his tracks. I want to say that he is only 21 years old. his music is truthful and came from his heart, you can tell. Personally I love his music and I cannot wait for his third mixtape. Overall I enjoyed Thursday, I do not feel it is as good as his first mixtape(house of balloons) but it comes close. You can download from his site http://the-weeknd.com/

10 Day thought provocation challenge

[Day 04]: Can insanity bring on more creativity?
Insanity is creativity. It is genius. Insanity is what seperates one from all the rest. Insanity and creativity. The words are almost interchangeble.

[Day 05]: Why does religion bring about so much war?
Religion is nothing but an answer. An answer to all the why's and how's. We as people want to know and need to know everything. It drives us mad not knowing who/what/where/when/and why certain things came about, such as our existence. War is just a large argument. An exxagerated disagreement. A fight. One's religion is the answer to life. For another to say that it is wrong and to have an answer if there own: sparks up the war. More specifically Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, Muslims do not.

All natural for the summer final video !!

I washed my hair and blow dryed it one last time before I got senegalese twists. I just wanted to share with youi guys how it looks :)

2 Quotes of the week!

We are more often treacherous through weakness than through calculation. -Francois De La Rochefoucauld
I interpret this quote as saying that being weak causes more damage than actually taking a challenge. Similar to the saying "you can't win if you don't try". Like solving a problem. It is more detrimental for one to give up than to have actually attempted at solving the problem.

A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure. -Lee Segall
This just means that someone should focus on one thing t a time. Like in work or school. Taking on more than one task at the same time can cause confusion.

Please vote for me just by clicking this link http://bit.ly/nUZYbr and clicking VOTE. You can vote once a day, so please vote for me everyday! I would love to win this. I need this opportunity.

I don't know what's worse 13 year olds posting porn or 13 year olds posting those "Thinspo" posts (on tumblr)

I don't even want to talk about the porn. Except that now child under the age of 18 should be exposed to that. STRAIGHT UP.

Now about this "Thinspo" crap. I am naturally thin. So you'd probably assume that "I don't get it". Well that's true, I don't get "Thinspiration". I understand that a photo of a skinny white girl may inspire you to be just as thin, hence the term. But I never see highly overweight or obese people post about "thinspiration". I may see overweight people post about working out and loosing weight, but never use that term. The people I see who are heavy into "Thinspiration" are probably only 10-20 pounds overweight. They're the ones with scales and size/weight charts in their descriptions. I only associate the term "Thinspiration" or "Thinspo" with negativity. It's just too much. It probably once was a good thing. Now it seems like an unnecessary brain-wash thing

Now I'm not trying to call anyone out, but one 13 year old who I am following often reblogs photos of skinny white girls and put the caption "Thin". This seems disgusting to me. She has posted photos of herself and she really doesn't look more than 10 pounds overweight, if any. and she's THIRTEEN. Not only is she 13 but she's Asian. She will NEVER look like the skinny white girls on Tumblr. At age 13 there should never be any worrying about one's weight. You're supposed to fat in middle school! There are way too many people who were "Fat" at age 13 who are slim now(my age, 19) just because that's the way things happened. As long as you stay away from the junk(which all kids should) it should not be a problem. A child focusing on their weight or appearance is sickening. Because like the saying goes "If you don't love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love someone else". Being a teenager comes with too much pressure from EVERYONE. Even just in school. Your parents pressure you to do well, your teachers pressure you (9 out of 10 highschool teachers are full of shit) your "Friends" pressure you (even if you don't notice) and the list goes one. The LAST thing a young teenager needs is to be pressuring themselves. Because loving yourself is the greatest love of all. Not trying to sound like a cheesy song you sing at graduation, but sometimes you may feel that that love isn't coming from anywhere else. If you're looking in the mirror yelling about how fat you are, and everyone is yelling at you about everything else you're being torn down. It's defeating, and the last thing a 13 year old needs to wake up every morning feeling defeated. It's sad.

My main reason for this post, or my obsession with kids picking up horrible ideas/habits from the internet is that I have two younger sisters. One is 13 going on 14 and the other is 11 going on 12. Once I see a kid posting something they I feel they shouldn't, I think of my sisters. At this I point I don't want them exposed to the crap kids there ages are seeing on the internet. I monitor what the do and there is NO WAY IN HELL they're making tumblr accounts. No matter how cool it may seem. As well as other accounts on the internet besides sites that are specifically for children.

10 Day Thought Provocation Challenge

[Day 03]: Which is a stronger emotion - anger or love?

This is a pretty hard question, being that the two are very strong. Initially Anger can be looked at as a stronger emotion. Anger takes people over and causes them to do things they wouldn't normally do. Anger causes even the most seemingly calm person to "Loose their cool". Anger can be expressed in many ways and it's even easier to express than love. Which could make love the stronger emotion. But at times it is an underlying emotion, when you love someone/something you never stop loving them/it. But you can forget love, through anger. Even for a short amount of time.
Anger can be controlled, love cannot. Anger is powerful for that it causes many extreme occurrences but love is beyond that. Love is beyond what we can control or explain. Anger, though very extreme, always has a reason. Always has some sort of trigger, or connection to the reaction. Whereas love is just human nature.
I'm not sure if this makes much sense, nor am I too sure of the answer to this question. My conclusion is that Anger and Lover are two very strong emotions; Anger can be controlled, love cannot.

Resource Furniture: Italian-Designed Space Saving Furniture

Ron Barth, President of Resource Furniture (www.resourcefurniture.com/space-savers), demonstrates and explains their amazing line of Italian-designed space-savers.

I stumbled across this on Tumblr and it is amazing. I need all of that furniture.

Solange Knowles

Yes, Beyonce's little sister. But she has certainly made a name for her self in the past few years. Solange is one of my biggest inspiration's and I love her. Her style can be described as soulful, alternative, funky, and overall eclectic. Especially as of late. Everyone knows her as a style icon now, but she is indeed a singer. She released her first album: Solo Star in year 2002 and her second Sol-angel and the Hadley street dreams in year 2008. Both album tiles a clever reference to her unique name, I hadn't listened to first nor do I remember the single off that album But I love the second album. I love R&B and Soul music, and Solange's second studio album captures that perfectly. The album also defines who she is, with the first track "God given name". On which she states: "I’m not becoming expectations, I’m not her and never will be. Two girls going in different directions, Striving towards the same galaxy. Let my star light shine on its own.No, I’m no sister, Just my God given name" addressing comparisons to her older sister.

But now, Solange Knowles is a Fashionista, a trendsetter, and a DJ. She DJ's at clubs, parties, and has even done a party in London. Solange is using her fame to make guest appearances everywhere and using her style to make a statement while doing it. She was recently spotted keeping the party rockin’ at the Bean Pole/Kim Jones block party at the Opening Ceremony store New York City. She is an inspiration to all girls like me and not by just the way she dresses but her hair as well. Over a year ago Solange cut all her hair off and as it grew back she got Box Braids. I love braids, as you probably already know, and due to the trend of "Going natural" many others a getting their hair braided and basing the styles they want on Solange's hair. Here are a few of my favorite photos of Ms. Solange Knowles:

iloveboxbraids:

I LOVE THIS LOOK ON HER

I think I’m in love with Solange Knowles

Now, I love her as a Fashionista/Hipster/DJ but I'd love for her to release another album. I'm really hoping she does.

formspring.me

Last year formspring.me sweeped the nation! Well The world of em and my friends. People can ask you questions, and that's it! But I love getting questions. The best feature is anonymity. You can literally ask someone anything. If you have n0t made an account , think before you do. People take advantage of the fast that you can ask question anonymously and may use that in a bad way.

But I don't mind You can ask me whatever you liiiiike http://formspring.me/chocolatekaj

When is Natural truly Natural?

The reason why I am asking When is natural hair truly natural is because of this photo from the blog Natural hair problems. Which poses people describing women with colored as "not natural" as a problem.

You may be familiar with the latest trend amongst women who typically straighten their hair (using chemicals) : Going Natural. I've been natural my whole life and I'm glad I'm not the only one anymore. I no longer hear friends telling me "Perm your hair !".; We now know that perming/relaxing ones hair is harmful. But When is natural really natural? Everyone knows Natural as ones Natural hair texture like mine, seen here:

http://fuckyeahnaturalhair.tumblr.com/
But when I go out I notice a lot of natural women with their hair colored, more than not. I've seen a few bright/ridiculous colors, but I mostly see women with their hair colored brown/auburn/dark red. As seen in this photo:
Don't get me wrong, Dying your hair is not a problem (especially if don't right/professionally). But this is not natural. Natural meaning: existing in or formed by nature. Naturally meaning: in a natural or normal mannerTo me it’s like (not harmfully) straightening your hair. Yes, it’s your hair but you were not born that way. You were not born with colored hair.Whichever way you believe you were put on this earth, you weren't put here with orange hair.
I'm really not trying to discriminate or outcast anyone. As you know I'm all for equal rights and I'm fully against labels. This is not a big deal. I just want it to be understood how I feel about the matter. Everyone knows or should know rather that colored is not natural(obviously).

Let's make a Smoothie !

A step by step "How-to" on making your own smoothie. I wanted a smoothie, I decided to make one, and I decided to make a video about it. The fruit were strawberries and bananas and the yogurt I use was yoplait very vanilla. The yogurt gave the smoothie a very sweet ice-cream like taste (well it was vanilla) lol.
and the song I used is "Clean up woman" by Betty Wright.

Converse!

You may seen my recent post entitle "Expression". If not check it out here. I discussed expressing one's self artistically. One way I express myself is the way I dress head to toe. Speaking of toe, my favorite brand of sneaker happens to be converse, Chuck Taylor's to be exact. I feel that everyone should own at least one pair chucks, I have four. I plan to get plenty more. Here are photos of my Chucks:

My reason for this post is my friend Mariah's recent YouTube video. Mariah being the woman in charge of MCR Films which I posted about here.

Moral of the story, Converses (Chuck Taylors) are the best sneaker ever invented. If don't have a pair you're probably a one year old. And if not get yours today. They make you COOL!
But seriously, yea go to http://www.converse.com/

The riots in England

or commonly referred to as the "London Riots" because it all started in London. But over the course of three days riots have broken out in many cities/towns of England such as Birmingham, Nottingham, Tottenham, and Manchester. When I saw photos it immediately reminded me of the Detroit Riots of 1967(which had taken place in Detroit, Michigan). I also believe riots of this sort had happened somewhere else in the US as well, but a long time ago. I've never contemplated this happening now. It's happening right now.

If you don't already know, the reason for these riots is that a man was killed. A man was unlawfully shot and killed by a police officer. This reminded my of the Sean Bell incident, which happened here in New York about 5 years ago. The incident I'm discussing happened a couple of nights ago in London. The police officer claimed the man shot him first. But forensics show that the policeman shot first, which is wrong. So friends and family of this man held a peaceful protest and eventually the crowd grew bigger. Officers were on duty and slowly the people started to fight. Then, people around London and other major cities in England decided to join in on all the rioting. Buildings are being burnt down, shops are been looted, and it just kept keeps getting worse.

Most of the images I saw may be disturbing, but here is one:
an iconic photo of a woman jumping from her apartment as the building is burning down

Here is an eye witness account stating that the riots were started after the Police beat down a 16 year old girl seeking answers from them, during the protest.

(alleged video of the attack is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjT68ms)

This is horrible. I understand the point, but violence is not the answer. I wish we lived in a more peaceful world. I don't want everything to be perfect, but I at least want police officers who wont kill innocent men. This is not the first time this crime has happened, nor is it the first time cities have rioted. It is disgusting that history has only repeated itself in violent, destructive, and monstrous ways. It is disgusting that we have not had another man on the moon, or civil rights movement, or any fight to fight without violence. I've already heard of deaths due to fire. Though still very much awe, I am  keeping the people of England in my prayers. I just want this to end.

Bloggers rejoice!

There is a social network for us!

I just stumbled across a site called bloggers.com. It is a networking site for bloggers, similar to all social networking sites. But what makes this unique is that you import your blog(s). You set up a profile and link your blog(s) with a description to it, for anyone who views your profile to see. Each time you post something on your blog(s) it appears on your profile. You can add friends as well as follow blows their blogs. You also post a bloggers.com widget to your blog(s) so that anyone can find you on bloggers. There is also a feature to vote for bloggers. If you like them/their blogs, you click the plus sign on their profile.

There are social networking/dating/blog sites for just about everyone and everything. But bloggers.com is ideal for bloggers. In this day in age everyone's connected someway using the internet and no one has just one account, I certainly do not. I am shocked that I haven't used this site before. I am currently in the process of linking my blogs to my profile and updating other things. I plan to use this site to it's full advantage. It is helpful and fun, well fun for me. If you are a blogger I urge to create an account on bloggers.com and add me ;)

Kearmonie - Find me on Bloggers.com

Window Seat- Erykah Badu

"They play it safe, are quick to assassinate what they do not understand. They move in packs, ingesting more and more fear with every act of hate on one another. They feel most comfortable in groups, less guilt to swallow. They are us. This is what we have become, afraid to respect the individual. A single person within a circumstance can move on to change, to love herself, To Evolve."

This song and this very quote mean a lot to me. Not only am I a fan of Erykah Badu but this song/quote is truth.

10 Day Thought Provocation Challenge

[Day 02]: What is the difference between existence and essence?

Existence is simple that, existing. Being alive. Whereas your essence is who you are. Your essence is what comes with your existence, what separates you from everyone else. The feeling you give when you enter a room, not the simple fact that you are in a room. One's essence is the basic, real, and unique nature of that person. It can also be the significant individual feature of a person. To exist means to be present in reality (time and space). Something that is not present in reality may still have an essence. For example, the essence of a bachelor is an unmarried man. However, if every man was married and there were no bachelors left (existing) on earth, the essence of a bachelor would still be an unmarried man. Existence is the state of being, but essence is who you truly are.

Expression

I, Kearmonie, am in many ways artistic. I often label myself as "The artist who can never finish anything". Mostly because I don't finish anything, lol. A lot of my drawings still need work and most of my poems on http://crawlinsideme.blogspot.com/ are unfinished. but that is just based on my criticism, no one else's. Art is simply expression. I even feel that blogging is an art. Blogging is expression, no matter how you blog or what you blog you are expressing yourself. There are many ways one can express themselves thus many art forms. My art forms of choice are drawing, poetry, and blogging. I also like to dance and I will someday play piano, well. I am an artist. Other ways I express myself are through my appearance and I guess my bedroom. You've seen many of my outfits but you can see more on my fashion photo blog http://www.chictopia.com/Kearmonie. You can see hairstyles I've had or will have on http://iloveboxbraids.tumblr.com/. &Here are a few photos I've drawn:

This was just a post not only to share who I am but to encourage my readers to express who they are. In any and every way. :). Also to shamelessly plug my other blogs but hey, it's art :)

South Street seaport

is very fun, especially when you have money... or even if you don't. Like me and my grandmother. The other day we didn't want to be couped up in the house all day so we up and went to South Street Seaport. If you've never been, It is a great shopping area and tourist attraction in Manhattan's lower east side. One of the top "must-see" destinations in the country. There are a lot of fun things to do there, it is also ideal for simple yet enjoyable outings such as dates, playdates, school trips, or just because. Me and my grandmother checked out the store on Fulton street as well as in the Pier 17 mall. We, of course, also enjoyed the view. Here are a few photos I took:

MCR Films!

MCR films is an independent film company stationed right here in New York. The owner/founder of MCR Films, Mariah, is going to have several movie nights to fund her company and her dream of opening a movie theater. MCR Films is a small, growing business and is currently overcoming the obstacles that come with that just to stay afloat, but we of course need our fans help! Please Donate whatever you can. This movie night will being the first of many, on August 20th. Come out, support, have fun! Find out more about MCR Films, events, and how you can help out here http://mcrfilms.com/
The goal of MCR Films is to create a movie theater for the "people". With cheaper prices, better food and trailers/short films of aspiring filmmakers along with box office moguls showing as well. The walls would be laced with peoples photos of their hobbies or inspirations. I see a movie theater with lots of potential. With NYC affiliates and sponsorships we can fulfill the dream of creating "MARS MULTIPLEX".

Children need to get off the internet !

I have a blog on Tumblr and I am often followed by children under the age of 16. I check out their blogs and some of them also post porn. I'm pretty sure their parents don't know about this and I'm also pretty sure that those are the same parents who would blame the internet or television for their child getting pregnant at the age of 16. Parents, stop complaining if you're not doing anything. If you raise your children right nothing else will matter, ever. and children Get off the internet ! READ A BOOK.

With that I leave you "Read a Book" Which sends a positive message to the urban company while at the same time poking fun at it.

Fear not! My Natural Hair journey ain't over !

I started MY "Natural hair journey" about a month ago and it's been hard work! I haven't been doing much with my hair being that I'm not a hair stylist and I'm just lazy. I see a lot of natural girls on other sites/logs who do any and everything to their hair like it's nothing. It hasn't been as easy for me, but this ride isn't over. I'm not entirely too sure what I'm going to do to my hair for the remainder of the summer, but I guess that's the fun part. Anyway, her's what I've done so far.

What my hair has gone through in the past two weeks:

Like I said, the journey isn't over ! Stay tuned :)

Google+

Google+ (pronounced and sometimes written Google Plus, sometimes abbreviated as G+) is a social networking service operated by Google Inc. The service launched on June 28, 2011 in an invite-only "field testing" phase. The following day, existing users were allowed to invite friends, who are above 18 years of age,to the service to create their own accounts. This was suspended the next day due to an "insane demand" for accounts.
Google+ integrates social services such as Google Profiles and Google Buzz, and introduces new services Circles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Huddles. Google+ is available as a web site, will be available as a desktop application,[citation needed] and is already available as a mobile application, but only on the Android and iOS operating systems. Sources such as The New York Times have declared it Google's biggest attempt to rival the social network Facebook, which had over 750 million users in 2011.

Here is a quick look at Google+

You can find out more and get an in-depth explanation of Google+ and all it's features at http://www.google.com/+/learnmore/ .
I just started using Google+ and I love it. I feel that Google(the complete empire itself) is the future. I have a Google phone, on which regular Google feature are right at my finger tips. Everything is linked to my Gmail account including the Google+ app I recently downloaded. I discussed my phone here. I also use Google chrome as my web browser and it is the best. I highly recommend everyone to set up their Google+ account immediately. It is a unique social networking site with features similar to that of Facebook and features Facebook will never have. Google+ combines the fun aspect of social networking as well as the business aspect which is expanding more each day.

The Weeknd

Abel Tesfaye , better known by his stage name The Weeknd is a Toronto-based R&B singer. Songs recorded under The Weeknd name first leaked in late 2010. The Weeknd released a nine-song album, House of Balloons, on 21 March 2011. His style has been classified as "Prog R&B" and "Hipster R&B" based on fans, I would label it as alternative R&B. The album is a part of a trilogy which includes Thursday and Echoes of Silence, to be released in the summer and autumn. The song "High for This" is currently featured in the promo for the final season of the HBO show "Entourage." On June 16, 2011, the album was named as a longlisted nominee for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. On July 6, the album was named as a short listed (one of ten) nominee for the 2011 award.
Now for the mixtape "House of Balloons". It is amazing, well in my opinion. If you're into R&B and Alternative, and slow music you'll love it. The songs aren't appropriate for children, but I don't think you'd expect them to be, lol. Anyway, you can really close your eyes and relax to this mixtape. The music is quality and furthest from mediocre. My favorite song on the mixtape is "The Morning". I enjoyed listening to "House of Balloons" the first time and I'm listening to it right now. Also be sure to check out the upcoming mixtape Thursday when it is released. There is still no specific date.

However you may listen to and download "House of Balloons" here:

10 Day Thought Provocation Challenge

[Day 01]: Is revenge sometimes justified?

This is a hard one. Most people feel that revenge is unjust. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind". But there are policies that do justify revenge, such as "Punishment fits the crime". It all depends on the situation. With certain things, revenge is unnecessary. People need to let go and leave it in God's hands. Not trying to be religious but I believe everything happens for a reason. I also believe in karma. Revenge in a situation which you could've ignored is stupid, and petty. It can also makes matters worse. You could be fighting a never-ending war based on revenge. On the other hand, at times you have to take matters into your own hands. You have to stand up for what you believe in, even if that means seeking revenge on someone. So, yes revenge is sometimes justified.

Quote of the Week

"If you admire somebody, you should go ahead and tell them. People never get the flowers while they can still smell them."

Outfit of the week

Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way

Today I went to a poetry open mic at the Brooklyn public library at grand army plaza. This outfit is cute, stylish, trendy, urban, and all of the above. It was a very hot day, so some may question why I was wearing all black but the clothing was very loose. The harems pants are made of a material that breathes and the crop is , well a crop top. Overall I enjoyed this look and hope it’s an inspiration. The top is from Strawberry, The pants are from Papaya and the bag is Coogi.

Facebook is the devil

Ah Facebook. The #1 social networking site. Everyone has a Facebook account and if someone doesn't they will soon  make one. I made my Facebook about three years ago before all of the "hype". Before Facebook was essential to life. I made an account because I had seen commercials mentioning it and was of course curious. It was cool. You were able to add widget or "boxes" to your profile which were little games, apps, or things that represented. There were tabs on your profile which represented different pages: Your wall, photos, links, and more. Yet the site was still second to Myspace back then(for me anyway). Over the years Facebook underwent many changes. The "boxes" I mentioned earlier were eliminated as well as the "links" tab on everyone's profile, the overall layout of the site was changed completely and there was no fun(in my opinion). Soon Myspace became less popular and everyone was making Facebook accounts. Which I think is the main problem, too many people taking advantage of Facebook. Some people act as if Facebook is their life and post all of their information, other people stalk the profiles of their friends just to pass by time. There is literally nothing else to do. there have been fads such as taking quizzes, become a fan of a page which you agree with, and now groups. The groups are exactly that. For example you can everyone from your school's track team into a group and call it "Edison's track team". Then add everyone from the team to it, anyone who was not initially added can request to be added and one of the member adds that person. You have a group chat with everyone in the group(who is online at the time) and when someone posts on the wall of the group each of the members is notified. Sounds cool right? But there is certainly a negative side. As of late people have been creating purely ignorant groups such as "Brooklyn vs Queens" and putting there friends into the group. On the page people from Brooklyn bash people from Queens and vice versa. It is disgusting. I live in Brooklyn but was born in Queens and I know a lot of people who are the same. I also know a lot of people who live in one borough but have family in the other or who simply visit the other borough. There should be no beef. I know you're probably thinking I should have no problem since I'm not in the group but NO. Because when people on my friends list post on the walls of these ridiculous groups their post and all the comments on the posts appear on my homepage. Facebook is NOT private, unless you send someone a message. But I can see what someone posted on someone else's wall even if I'm not friends with that someone else. It is annoying! Mostly because I don't care. Facebook has a mind of its own, a system where what is supposed to be convenient becomes creepy. It is meant for you to see how your friends are but not totally invade their lives. Also another problem I had with Facebook is that when I deactivated my account then reactivated all of my privacy settings were changed. One was able to Google my name then find my Facebook page. It really stressed me out.
Overall I realized that with Facebook the negative aspects outweighed the positive aspects. Facebook is not my life and I do not need it. Besides, I'm on a bunch of other websites.

Scarification

Scarifying involves scratching, etching, or superficially cutting designs, pictures, or words into the skin as a permanent body modification. In the process of body scarification, scars are formed by cutting or branding the skin.
In an art history class I took I learned that scarification is an ancient African tribal body art that involves purposely scarring the skin to create raised marks and/or complete patterns. It's generally believed that scarring was developed because the dark pigmented skin of the indigenous African people was not ideal for tattooing. By opening the skin, the uppermost layer of pigment was broken and filled in with slightly lighter shades of scar tissue. There was just enough contrast for the marks to show after the wounds had finally healed. Scarification is still a ritualized practice in many African provinces but is now used here in America as a form of tattooing. YES Tattoos !
To me it seems interesting, your skin is literally the canvas. It is a way of self expression, but on the other hand you are cutting yourself
Photos of recent and even historic scarification can be disturbing So I will only post this one:
