The Brooklyn Open

Brooklyn Open is a monthly open mic series for teens at Brooklyn Public Library’s beautiful Dweck Center. Brooklyn Open is a safe space for poets, spoken word artists, emcees, scholars and activists to share their powerful and important voices. These events are run by youth for youth, with youth DJs, youth hosts and a monthly featured poet. Youth Board members will invite one elder poet each month as an intergenerational feature. Find out more at http://www.urbanwordnyc.org/

Here are two poets apart of Urban Word's youth board, Ashley August and Katherine George performing at one of the open mics.
