Happy Birthday KiD CuDi!

Scott Mescudi, aka KiD CuDi is an alternative Hip-Hop artist who does not label himself as a "rapper". According to him Hip-Hop has too many rules. I agree with him on this. KiD CuDi happens to be one of my favorite artists and is 28 years old today. CuDi is one of my favorites for multiple reasons. I feel that I identify with him in many ways. His persona, his attitude, his talent... there is nothing not to love about this man(in my opinion anyway). His mantra "Solo Dolo"  is a track off his first album "Man on the Moon: The end of day"(09). He came out owning the title "The lonely stoner" but is now "Mr. Rager" For those who do not know what that means Here's and what CuDi had to say:
There’s only one original Rager, and thats me. I started this ‘rage’ sh*t. The lifestyle, the term, the whole new meaning and definition of the word. Understand and be clear, IAM THE RAGER, IAM FOREVER. When you hear ANYONE talking bout ‘rage’ or ‘raging’, know where that shit originated. Guess ima have to do some trademarkin’. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES. WE LIVE THIS SH*T! -KING WIZARD (via CudLife)
I love Scott Mescudi because he is true to himself. He is humble. He makes the music he wants to make and is true to his own style. HE HAS NOT CONFORMED. Not only is he true to himself but he is true to us, his fans. I understand why certain may not understand this. Or "I hope they understand that I really understand that... they don't understand"(GHOST!) rather.

I just got my hair done!

I got Senegalese Twists done this past weekend and here's a video of me telling you guys all about it

Oh that's what's hot in the streets right now? Kendrick Lamar? J. Cole?

and of course I am talking about Hip-Hop music. Some people say Hip-Hop is dead but I feel we simply need a new movement, a new hip hop revolution. There are still conscious rappers and rappers that make good music, of course not as much as during the early 90's but the influence of that era still remains. Kids like me, who appreciate Hip-Hop music have very few new artists in the rap game to turn, BUT two of those rappers are Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. More people worldwide are familiar with J. Cole because He has an album out, but Kendrick Lamar is getting there. They're both great.
If you have not listen to either, and you love Hip Hop music I suggest you do... Right now. J. Cole's debut album "Cole World: The Sideline Story" went gold a months after its release and not for no reason. it's a great album. You can download a few of Kendrick Lamar's Mixtapes for free on DatPiff.com here.

Blog radar!

The "Already Done" List
http://alreadydonelist.tumblr.com/

The already done list is a photo blog following the recent trend of posting photos with a caption which followers who can identify with that photo/caption will reblog. For example Natural Hair Problems and Boys Who.... "Already Done" however is blog that does not post problems, desires, or wishes, but this blog posts things sating "I've already...." for people who have already done to reblog. For example, I reblogged this photo:

This already done list blog seems like either a positive alternative to those bucket list blogs or a way to shove in peoples faces all the cool things you’ve done. Either way, despite me never really doing shit with my life up until this point, I will reblog everything I’ve done!

Controversy can easily be brought up, as this blog seems to counteract the "Before I Die" blog http://perfectbucketlist.tumblr.com/. "Before I Die" is just like the photo blogs I've mentioned and posts photos of thing people want to do before they die. This can be seen as both positive and negative. Positive because it gives us all hope. But negative because we are told to live in the moment and be thankful for what we have. Dwelling on what you have not done yet and things you do not have isn't healthy, emotionally. Also, personally, I do not necessarily have a bucket list. I have a list of things I would like to do, but having a "Bucket list" is shining too much light on death, which is something I do not like to think about. "Already Done", however gives followers a chance to reflect on and be proud of all the great things they've already accomplished in life. The only downside could be followers rubbing in the face of others all the great things they've done, Lol. "Already Done" is a cute, fun, positive blog and I suggest you all check it out. http://alreadydonelist.tumblr.com/

There is a thin line between Art and Entertainment

Now-a-days the entertainment industry has literally taken over. Everybody is trying to be famous and trying to make money. True art falls through the cracks. I was thinking about this when it comes to acting. Acting may be the truest art form in media. But business men still look for what looks better and what sells. All anyone is interested in is the money. It's shameful. One most recent example of this is DJ-ing. Dj's usually get hired based on what they've down before, talent, and overall personality. But as of late, a lot of celebrities are getting DJ jobs at parties. I mean, certain celebrities who aren't even on the music business. Such as Kirstie Alley, Tyson Beckford, Matt LeBlanc, and Solange Knowles. We all know and love a lot of these celebs, and you should all know that I love Solange Knowles but none of these people are true DJ's. They make appearances based on their Fame and make money. These people are practically taking food off the tables of DJ's who have been doing it their whole lives, and only know to DJ. Being an artist is already difficult when it comes to making money off of our crafts, especially in this digital era. Many of use, at a certain age, have to choose between what we love and what we need to do to survive. There's no such thing as an artist who isn't struggling. Unless, well, you're famous.
I am creating a film(the working tile is a little secret), a documentary to be precise. Which will document the lives of young artists voicing their opinions, and challenging certain stereotypes at the same time. This film will be similar to the late 1980's documentary about drag culture in NYC "Paris is burning".

If confidence is sexy than what am I?

So I stumbled across a photo on tumblr which read "Men are attracted to confidence more than tits, ass, and face. There's nothing sexier than a woman who refuses to give a fuck". All I am saying is I don't agree with this. Yes, maybe confidence is sexy but looks are what grabs the attention to begin with. I am extremely confident but I don't have every tom, dick, and harry knocking at my door! So what does this post exactly mean? Maybe I'm thinking to hard but I didn't particularly understand it.

You know what grinds my gears?

People who always complain about "What grinds their gears". 90% of what people complain about can easily be avoided, prevented, or ignored. Calm down.

Quote of the week

"Why you gotta act like a nigga all the time? Is a nigga your complexion or is it all in your mind?"
                                                                                                                 -Common, The Questions

I usually do not use profanity, but the way the word nigga or nigger is used in this line is the same way racist people have labeled Blacks for years. Meaning an extremely ignorant person. This quote is questioning the black person who has fallen into such stigma and saying that being a "nigger" is not being black, however it is a state of mind. I also really like this song.

Here's the song :

Underground Artists

Formerly know as MCR films, Underground Artists is an independent indie film/production company stationed right here in New York City. The goal of Underground Artists is to uncover raw talent of young inner-city artists and give them the voice they need. The dream is to someday create a movie theater for the "people". With cheaper prices, better food and trailers/short films of aspiring filmmakers along with box office moguls showing as well. The walls would be laced with photos of our artists, their hobbies and inspirations. This is a company with lots of potential. With NYC affiliates and sponsorships we can fulfill the dream.
I will be working on quite a few projects, one in particular I am starting now, in affiliation UA. I am very excited about these future endeavors and I will certainly keep you all posted.

Please check out and support Underground Artists.

Ali Esteem and Kearmonie

Ali Esteem(Aliyyaa) is one of my closest friends. She's talented and very thoughtful. Her blog is http://luvyourselfsomeesteem.tumblr.com/. We are two Blogger/Artist/College Students living life in NYC. We BLOG, We CREATE, and We SHARE. We have tons of things we want to say and tons of things we want to do. I made this video mash-up of only a few videos we've made together.

Here is her intro video to her youtube channel! : http://www.youtube.com/aliesteem

This is just the tip of the iceberg with us. Expect more videos, opinions, and creations. From her as well as me. Separate as well as together, lol.

Eh, Disney Channel

Now you may have heard a lot from my generation(est. 92) about how much we hate the latest shows on Disney Channel. Now this may sound funny but I wonder why they keep putting horrible weaves/hairstyles on Chyna-Anne McClain of "Ant Farm". My little sister watches that show all the time and every time I look the main girl’s hair just never looks right. She often has those moments when she needs a new perm. Better yet she just needs to go natural. It would be extremely beautiful if they should a girl going natural on Disney Channel. Not a show about going natural but a show about a girls life, where she just so happens to be going natural. Shows i watched growing up were just about life, there were some silly moments but NO corny gimmicks about being a superstar, overly talented, genius, wizard, child prodigy. I was able to relate and look up to character on shows that I watched. Now Little blacks girls across the country are going to want a weave and are going to think that bad weaves are ok. Except my little sister(she wants to be just like me :)) But some children only have Disney channel as their older sibling and inspiration. Some children NEED positivity on the shows they watch not corny punch lines and dramatic scenes about boy crushes. Yes, Raven was a psychic and yes, she had a different weave each episode but at least she looked bad as hell!Raven went through serious things and had to make serious decisions. Don’t even get me started on how down to earth Lizzie McGuire was. It seems that now-a-days superficiality is the new trend.

My Merry Christmas

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to share with you all how my Christmas went. So I made video/movie. I spent the holiday with my Family and we also went to times square :)
